Hardwick Hall - National Trust is one of the most beautiful buildings in England with its walls of glass and dates back to the late 16th century. It was build by 'Bess' of Hardwick who was born in 1518 in the manor house nearby. Hardwick Hall is now owned by the National Trust. The house, gardens and Hardwick Hall Country Park are all open to the public. With its elevated position, there are good views over the Derbyshire countryside. Hardwick Old Hall owned by English Heritage, now in ruins but predates Hardwick Hall is also well worth a visit.

Teversal
Teversal Trails Visitor Centre, Carnarvon Street, Teversal, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Tel. 01623 442021. A network of trails featuring a sculpture trail and coal garden running along former railway trackbeds.. The trails follow the track beds of the former colliery railways which, together with the local footpaths, provide a network of varied walks. Much of the network has now been designated as a Local Nature Reserve due to its valuable and fascinating flora, fauna and geology.
A number of circular walks (see below) have been devised incorporating some of the most interesting features in the area. These include the picturesque village of Old Teversal which has connections with Lord Carnarvon of Tutankhamun fame. This is one of the most unspoilt villages in Nottinghamshire. D..H. Lawrence was reported to have stayed there and based Lady Chatterley's Lover on the village. Hardwick Hall is also within walking distance.
